Inanity=Insanity
Here is a conversation I had in the hall today at school with another teacher (colleague):
Colleague (in her annoying, whiny, put upon voice): Hey, Kate. Are you ready for our meeting at 11 this morning?
Me: Yeah, our team meeting, sure I'm ready, why?
Colleague: Well, I don't know, aren't we going to meet about the meeting we are going to have this afternoon about our upcoming winter performance?
Me: Well, now I'm a little confused. Can you clarify? I thought this was a team meeting.
Colleague: Didn't you get the email about this afternoon's meeting?
Me: Yeees, but I thought we would have that meeting this afternoon. (a pause) Wait. Are you suggesting that we have a meeting about a meeting?
Colleague (a bit flustered and embarrassed about being called on her inanity so boldly): Well, I guess not. I suppose we will just meet about whatever YOU want then.
Me: That would be great. We could actually talk about teaching practices, our math program, children and other things related to being a teaching team, and then we can discuss our winter performance during the meeting about our winter performance, how 'bout it?
She walks away, frustrated.
Jeez.

Like my pop says, "It's hard to soar like an eagle when you are flocking with turkeys."
God help us all when teachers become bureaucrats
Way to stop the insanity! (Is that a slogan?).
I am against team teaching. It might be good for the students but I would be too embarrassed to teach with another teacher watching. I might even have to prepare just to avoid embarrassment.
